Infront to invest in tennis data solutions to support growing data business
Zug, Switzerland – Infront, has secured a ground-breaking five-year global partnership with the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The deal, beginning in 2025, encompasses the ITF Men’s and Women’s World Tennis Tour, Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge and Davis Cup, marking a significant step in the development of Infront’s data business.
This announcement follows a market tender for its live data and streaming business, which began in December 2022, and saw Infront selected as the ITF’s new Official Data Partner. The agreement provides data coverage for more than 58,000 tennis matches annually and includes the development of a Level 3 computer vision data solution. This delivers deeper tennis metrics for an enhanced fan experience, creating new commercial opportunities and developing compelling data stories around ITF events. It also accelerates Infront’s ambitions to create a holistic data platform and distribution service.
The partnership will introduce a new umpire scoring solution, supplying more than 650 handheld devices to be transported around the world as per the requirements of the ITF competition calendar. Infront will work very closely with the ITF to balance the specific needs for ITF competitions and addressing the long term ambitions of the ITF and the world of tennis, supporting world-class standards of integrity in sport and providing financial benefit for tennis worldwide.
Additionally, over 23,000 games will be produced by the Infront team for streaming each year, providing an excellent addition to the comprehensive Infront Bettor portfolio that will offer 24/7 content coverage from all across the world. Infront will work closely with the ITF to provide more streaming and production than has ever been done before and are planning on comprehensively covering many tiers of the ITF competition structure.
The highest standards of integrity in the sport have also been taken into account and the partnership will continue the gold standard set by the ITF and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) in recent years.
Chris Catling, Senior Director, Infront, said: “This partnership is monumental for Infront. We've been diligently working on expanding our operations in this area of our business, specifically what we can offer our range of customers when it comes to data. The Infront technology arm, The Lab, will be key to driving technology innovation. This agreement with the ITF, an Olympic federation, is a testament to our efforts and we look forward to implementing our innovative solutions with the ITF and collaborating with them to elevate the growth of tennis.”
Kelly Fairweather, ITF CEO, said: “Bringing matches alive through live scoring and steaming is at the heart of the fan, participant, media and market engagement in our competitions and pivotal to growing our game and essential to integrity. We’re delighted to appoint Infront as our Official Data Partner from 2025. Tennis fans are at the centre of what we do at the ITF and the new partnership with Infront will enable us to provide a better end-to-end experience for all fans. We will also see innovation out on the court and a significant financial uplift from these rights that we will use to support the player pathway and the development of tennis globally.”
