Zug, Switzerland - Bauhaus has signed an agreement to become the title sponsor of the 2007 FIBT World Championships in bobsleigh and skeleton, which takes place in Switzerland from 22 January to 4 February 2007. The sponsorship agreement was concluded with Infront Sports & Media, the exclusive commercial partner of the Fédération International de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT), the governing body of both sports.
The contract provides Bauhaus (DIY stores) with a comprehensive package of advertising rights. The sponsorship also includes branding on both sides of all athletes’ helmets and selected on-screen graphics within the international feed. The design of the sponsorship package ensures strong exposure on television. The company also has exclusive title association with the event – "Bauhaus 2007 FIBT World Championships".
The Bauhaus 2007 FIBT World Championships will be staged in St. Moritz, Switzerland, the birthplace of bobsleigh and skeleton, with its famous natural-ice track, the Olympia Bob run in Celerina. The competition schedule for this year’s event, which consists of 4-heat races in every discipline, is being formulated to gain maximum broadcast appeal.
Peter Heussi, CEO of Bauhaus Switzerland, said: "The 2007 FIBT World Championships in St. Moritz is the perfect opportunity for Bauhaus and its first specialist shopping centre in Switzerland (Bern) to tie itself in with one of the most exiting winter sports. We are already involved with a wide variety of sports and can now look forward to including this event in our portfolio, alongside other winter sports such as ski jumping, ice hockey and biathlon."
Robert H. Storey, FIBT President added: "Bauhaus has been involved in sport sponsoring for the last 30 years. We are delighted that Infront has secured such a committed commercial partner as title sponsor for the 2007 FIBT World Championships, a company that recognises the exciting attributes and values offered by our sports - bobsleigh and skeleton."
Bruno Marty, Executive Director Winter Sport for Infront commented, "We are very happy about the new relationship between FIBT and Bauhaus. This agreement is also an important achievement for Infront as we seek to further strengthen FIBT's marketing and sponsorship programme as well as to extend the partnership with dedicated clients like Bauhaus."
Infront Sports & Media has a strong and growing involvement with winter sport, representing five out of seven Olympic winter sport federations at international level.
Innovative ideas are successful across national borders. BAUHAUS has proved this with more than 185 branches in Europe. As a pioneer of specialist trade for everything to do with workshop, house and garden BAUHAUS opened the first specialist shopping center in Mannheim back in 1960. Under a single roof, it combined the wide offering of the individual specialist shops and the self-service concept allowed a whole new shopping experience. The friendly interior design of the stores and the clear division into specialist departments creates a special shopping atmosphere throughout Europe. At the same time, all the BAUHAUS branches take account of local traditions and market conditions. That means that private customers, craftsmen and small businesses not only in Switzerland and Germany but also in Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Spain, the Czech Republic and Turkey find a broad range of quality products. And BAUHAUS is still on the look-out for new opportunities.
