Zug, Switzerland - Coop Norge, one of Norway's largest supermarket chains, will sponsor the 2021, 2023 and 2025 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships after reaching an agreement with the International Federation of Skiing's (FIS) exclusive marketing partner Infront.
The agreement expands Coop's current presence in skiing as a sponsor of the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup and FIS Cross Country World Cup.
Under the new partnership Coop will enjoy exposure at the Oberstdorf 2021 and Planica 2023 Nordic World Ski Championships before stepping up as the Official Title Sponsor of the 2025 event due to take place in Norway.
Michael Witta, Vice President of Marketing Sales at Infront said: "We were aware of Coop's intention to raise its profile further in Nordic skiing and we are delighted to have reached an agreement to associate its brand through a series of high-profile events. The additional Title Sponsorship of the 2025 World Championship was logical and provides Coop a solid platform to activate its sponsorship in front of a home crowd."
Geir Inge Stokke, CEO Coop Norway said: "We believe that this sponsorship will contribute and reinforce the work we do on behalf of our 1.7 million co-owners, both by building pride, but also increasing member benefits, as our co-owners will experience the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships close-up. When choosing whom to collaborate with and which sports to focus on knowing that Nordic skiing is something close to heart for many of our co-owners is important to us."
