Mies/Zug – The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has appointed Schelde Sports as the FIBA Global Supplier for backstop units until 2024 in an agreement brokered by FIBA Marketing, the strategic partnership between FIBA and Infront.
The multi-event partnership will cover FIBA's top-level international competitions including the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, FIBA Eurobasket 2022, and the basketball tournaments at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Julien Ternisien, Infront Senior Vice President Summer Sports said: "Schelde Sports has been a FIBA partner for several years now and it is a positive sign to see them continue to use international basketball as a platform for its brand. A long-term partnership such as this one offers continuity for both parties and allows both to properly align for the benefit of FIBA events."
The announcement comes two weeks after FIBA Marketing secured Chinese consumer electronics company TCL as a Global Partner for the next four years.
During the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China, Schelde Sports supplied 48 Super Sam 325 backstop units to each of the eight host cities for both competition and training courts. Each basketball unit was branded in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 colours with a unique design.
As outlined in FIBA's announcement, part of the new agreement will see Schelde Sports and FIBA will work jointly to bring innovation in technology and marketing whilst also introducing new features with backstop units.
