Perth, Scotland/Zug, Switzerland - The World Curling Federation (WCF) is pleased to announce that Russian airline Aeroflot is to be a main sponsor of the ZEN-NOH World Women’s Curling Championship 2015.

The sponsorship, facilitated by the WCF’s exclusive media and marketing partner Infront Sports & Media, supported by the Russian sports marketing agency Premium Sport, sees Aeroflot become a main sponsor of the ZEN-NOH World Women’s Curling Championship in 2015, which takes place between 14 and 22 March in Sapporo, Japan.

On announcing this sponsorship, Kate Caithness, President of the WCF, said: “Infront’s ongoing drive to enhance the communication value and strength of our events continues to deliver strong marketing results. We are delighted to welcome Aeroflot, a global leader in the aviation industry, onto the ice. As the popularity of curling continues to grow, we are confident that they will see the benefits of investing in our sport. We hope that this is just the start of what could potentially be a longer term relationship between the World Curling Federation and Aeroflot.”

Bruno Marty, Executive Director of Winter Sports at Infront, added: “Aeroflot is the first Russian brand to be involved at such a high level of sponsorship with a WCF flagship event. As such, Aeroflot’s commitment is an impressive indication for the growing geographical outreach of the WCF events and a strong complement to the event’s sponsor line-up. With the sport of curling broadening its awareness and appeal all over Europe and increasingly in Asia, the airline brand will be able to reach its target groups in its home and further key markets.”

As a main sponsor of the ZEN-NOH World Women’s Curling Championship 2015, Aeroflot will benefit from prime exposure at one of the WCF’s flagship events. Principle contractual rights include under-ice and field of play advertising.

Partnering for the first time with the sport of curling, believed to be one of the world’s oldest team sports, Aeroflot is one of the world’s oldest airlines with the youngest air fleet among major carriers.

As one of Russia’s most recognised brands, Aeroflot is not only Russia’s flagship carrier, it’s also one of the largest airline groups in Europe.

In 2013, its 90th anniversary year, Aeroflot carried 20.9 million passengers (31.4 million passengers as Aeroflot Group including subsidiaries), a record for any Russian airline.

Following the conclusion of the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2014 in Champéry in November, the field is now set for the ZEN-NOH World Women’s Curling Championship 2015.

Teams from Canada, USA, Switzerland, Russia, Scotland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Norway, China and Japan (host) will compete in Sapporo.
