Salzburg, Austria - Milka, the chocolate brand of food group Mondelēz International, is to become Main Sponsor of the Vierschanzentournee, the popular event series within the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup. For the first time since 2009/10, Milka is to return as sponsor at this year's opening event in Oberstdorf. The sponsorship contract was signed with Infront Sports & Media, the official marketing partner of the German and Austrian Ski Federation (DSV and ÖSV) for the Vierschanzentournee.
As Main Sponsor, Milka will receive an extensive advertising presence at all four competitions – across Infront’s state-of-the-art LED boards, the back drop at the start and on inflatables. At the popular New Year’s event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Milka’s logo will also be featured on athlete bibs, on the leader board and on the back drop of the award ceremony. The sponsorship package is rounded by a hospitality contingent and further promotion and activation rights.
Dieter Heger, Head of International Sponsorship Milka, said: “On an annual basis, the Vierschanzentournee is the sporting highlight at the turn of the year, which is an ideal time to reach our audiences in key markets. We committed to this attractive platform in order to achieve a high advertising presence and reach in both Alpine and Nordic skiing. Together with innovative activation and successful athletes, we are aiming to bring the purple success model in winter sports to the next level.”
Michael Witta, Managing Director of Infront Austria, commented: “We are delighted that Milka is making a comeback as Main Sponsor of the Vierschanzentournee. The fact that one of the most successful winter sports sponsors has found its way back to the event underlines the appeal of this marketing platform. With a cumulative live/delayed reach of over 135 million in Europe, last year’s event set high standards and offered its partners an exclusive brand presence.”
Michael Maurer, President of the Vierschanzentournee, added: “Milka supports likeable athletes and winners in sports. The presence as Main Sponsor therefore fits perfectly, since the competition has long stood for passion and maximum performance in professional sports.”
The 2016/17 Vierschanzentournee is the 65th edition of the competition and will take place from 29 December 2016 through to 6 January 2017. The competitions will be carried out in Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen.
