New York, USA - Omnigon, one of the world’s leading digital services firms in sports and a subsidiary of Infront Sports & Media, has announced a coordinated digital partnership with FINA, the International Swimming Federation, to develop a new suite of mobile apps. The launch of these apps, on both iOS and Android devices, coincides with the 13th annual FINA World Swimming Championships, taking place 6 to 11 December in Windsor, Canada.
A second release of the app is planned for March 2017 featuring diving data and results. The third and final phase of the app will be released prior to the FINA World Championships in July 2017 and will include all of FINA’s six aquatic disciplines.
FINA sought to create an engaging, fan-centric experience that would ignite interest in the sport, drive engagement and bring fans closer to the athletes than ever before. To meet these objectives, Omnigon designed and developed app features that include a comprehensive results section featuring both live and historic data back to the year 2000. Within the results section, users can search by events and explore detailed results including split times and records. Additionally, the app also features a robust event hub, with event details and schedules for all previous, current and upcoming events.
There is also a comprehensive athlete area dedicated to FINA’s 15,000 participants. Each athlete profile includes biographical information, nationality, race-by-race results, images and a link to their social media feeds. Additionally, there is a dedicated media section featuring all the latest news articles, video and photo highlights and social streams.
FINA President Dr. Julio Maglione: “We are very proud today to be able to launch our first ever mobile application – a project that FINA has been keen to develop in order to enhance the exposure of its top events even further. We truly believe that the app will provide a range of crucial information to our various audiences, in a fast, comprehensive and efficient way. Omnigon provided their expertise and professionalism throughout the project and we are very grateful for their help in building this new digital platform.”
