COMPETITION FORMAT
Held over 6 days (26 – 31 December) every year, at the Eisstadion Davos in Davos, Switzerland.
Hosted by Swiss club HC Davos, one other Swiss and 4 international teams are invited to participate.
Game dates for the preliminary round are set, with teams split into two groups – Torriani and Cattini.
The two best-placed teams of the preliminary round receive a ’bye’ and advance to the next round of a playoff tournament while the other four teams compete in a pre-semi-finals and match-up for the last two spots in the semi-finals.
The second-placed team in group “Torriani” then faces the third-placed team in group “Cattini”, and vice-versa; winners of the match-ups then move on to the next round, to face the first-placed teams of each group.
The winners of the semi-finals compete on 31 December at 12:10 local time to determine the winner of the Spengler Cup.
